Getting Started
There are a few basic extras you need in addition to FS9 or FSX to get yourself soaring successfully in Flight Simulator.
- The Beginners Manual from the documentation section of the website.
Within this manual are Installation and setup instructions for Teamspeak, a program that enables members to talk to each other over the internet and Squawkbox / FSinn which are programs that interface Flight Simulator to the VATSIM network. Both programs are highly recommended when participating in UK VGA organised AGL meetings and events.
- The Launch Point Briefing Document from the documentation section of the website
- A club Glider from the aircraft downloads section of the website
- Glider field scenery for the UK VGA club bases Seighford, Parham, Lasham and Long Mynd from the scenery downloads section
- The Fixed Thermals from the thermal download page
For FSX with SP2 you'll want to use Peter Lurkens WinchX from his website to get your glider launched into the air. Peters website is linked to from the links page
Installing the gliders does require a bit more work than the usual aircraft installation so ensure you read the instructions at the bottom of the aircraft downloads page!
Installing the scenery, including the fixed thermals is as usual.
More advanced flights will require CCS2004 for FS9, CumulusX for FSX or ActiveSky which have their own boards for discussion in the forum.
